About us

Our Trauma team

Throughout my career as a teacher, youth worker and therapist, I have seen how powerful relationships can be in helping someone recover from trauma. We all have the chance to be that one person who makes a difference, often in ways we may never fully realise.

A journey

The Trauma Action Group recognises that becoming trauma informed is a journey that requires a multi-strategy approach and genuine commitment.

Translating theory to practice

Key to this is an organisation's ability to translate trauma informed theory into practice, ensuring local services, teams and individuals move from being simply ‘trauma aware’ to being skilled and responsive.

Building skills where they matter most

While access to trauma specialists is important, we believe real change is achieved by empowering individuals and communities with the knowledge, skills, and tools to support trauma-informed practice at a local level.

Collaboratively

We partner with committed organisations wherever they are on their journey to becoming trauma informed.
Our Approach

We believe...

  • Being trauma informed benefits everyone.
  • We cannot change a person's past, but we can help shape their future.
  • All of us have opportunities to make a positive difference for others, even in the briefest of interactions.
  • Everyone should have the opportunity to learn practical skills to support others and respond in helpful ways at times of need.
An hour a week of specialist support from someone like me can help a person in need, but it is the people who spend the most time with them who can make the biggest difference, and we must invest in their skills.
