Trauma Enhanced Practioner
An enhanced understanding of psychological trauma is essential for practitioners supporting children and adults who have suffered traumatic experiences. They also need the practical skills, strategies, and tools to co-create personalised trauma support strategies and recovery plans.
The TAG Enhanced Practitioner Programme is based on the Trauma Enhanced Practice Programme (see content below) with the addition of a subscription to our online person-centred screening and recovery planning tools, plus participation in our trauma Community of Practice.
Our goal is to build confident, skilled and trauma responsive practitioners able to support individuals and the staff team around them, even in the most difficult of circumstances.
Trauma Enhanced Practitioner subscribers benefit through:
- Access to the online TAG Trauma Resource Centre and its person-centred planning tools for trauma screening and recovery planning
- A resource full of practical support strategies that promote calming, connection, and safety in relationships
- Participation in the TAG Community of Practice for regular support, sharing and CPD.
- The knowledge and tools to create personalised strengths-based recovery plans that centre the voice and rights of the supported individual
- The ability to select from TAGs extensive practical strategies in supporting an individual and communicate these to those who support them, such as staff and family members
As part of this programme, participants will complete the Trauma Enhanced Practice Programme that will enable them to:
- Apply a trauma informed lens in working with individuals on their person-centred plans and strategies
- Explore connections between trauma, behaviour and personal identity, plus the overlap between trauma responses, mental health and neurodivergence
- Develop trauma enhanced interpretations of behaviours of concern, helping to reduce restrictive practices and improve outcomes
- Learn practical strategies for supporting emotional regulation and building safety through sensory informed practice
- Consider attachment styles and trauma’s impact on relational development
- Apply the Calm, Connect, Communicate Model to support relational safety, using trauma informed presence and connection
- Recognise shame sensitive practice and how to reduce risks of re-traumatisation
All Trauma Enhanced Level Programmes incorporate Trauma Aware and Skilled Practice Content
I’ve used the TAG toolkit frequently to help individuals and families understand the impact of their experiences on the ways they navigate daily life. It offers a user-friendly, pragmatic and above all, client-centred approach with solid, practical ideas to calm, communicate and connect.
