Whether we teach children, young people, or train an adult workforce we will, whether we know it or not, be interacting with individuals who have experienced significant psychological trauma from adverse experiences as children and/or adults.
Through better understanding how trauma can influence an individual’s behaviours and capacity for relationships and learning, we can design and deliver inclusive learning experiences that build trust and reduce shame triggers and risks of re-traumatisation.
The programme includes prior learning online and a practical, in-person skills-based course.
With 30 years in the Social Care sector in a variety of roles, supporting people who have experienced trauma in their lives, this course really opened my eyes to fresh approaches. In my current L&D role I will be utilising this new knowledge in reducing risks of re-traumatisation during training.
